Last trip of the year
This Saturday, I’m heading out on my last trip of the year. I’ll be traveling again to Serbia to teach a class on “Evangelism and Discipleship” to first-year students at the Baptist Theological School of Novi Sad. This will likely be my last visit to BTS, as I’ll be co-teaching with a friend who lives in Serbia and who will be taking over the teaching responsibilities for this class in the coming years.
In the last five years, I’ve had the joy of seeing BTS flourish and grow, nearly doubling in size. This small school serves churches throughout the Balkans, though most of the students are Serbian or Slovak. In the last year or so, leadership of the school has transferred to a new generation of locals, and they’re doing a fantastic job directing the ministry.
November Recap
November was a busy month for travel. First, I had the privilege of going to Turkey and Kyrgyzstan to visit coworkers there. While I wasn’t in either country very long, I was able to spend time with a few different families that I supervise to see where they’re serving. I left thoroughly encouraged by their faithfulness, joy, and love for the people around them.
Following that trip, I participated in a conference on operating businesses around the world. This particular conference brings together investors and business leaders alongside global workers and sending organizations. The goal is to network and collaborate on business ventures that enable gospel workers to live and serve in difficult locations around the world. While at the conference, I was able to connect with two other workers that I supervise.
Lastly, I just returned from Mexico where I visited a training school for future global workers. This trip provided me the opportunity to visit with a young lady I supervise who is getting ready to deploy to Uzbekistan, along with another family whose destination is still undetermined. While at the school, I was also able to speak with other students who are exploring options for sending organizations and considering ministry opportunities in Central Asia.
