Forgive One Another

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32, ESV)
- What forgiveness is not:
- Forgiveness is not excusing
- Forgiveness is not forgetting
- Forgiveness is not reconciling
- Forgiveness is not a feeling
- What forgiveness is:
- Forgiveness is the gracious act of letting go of resentment, anger, or the desire for revenge against someone who has wronged you.
- What forgiveness requires:
- Release and replace
- Ephesians 4:31-32; Colossians 3:12-13
- Embrace endless forgiveness
- Matthew 18:21-22
- Ask the Father to help you to forgive
- Matthew 6:9,12; Matthew 6:14-15
- Contemplate Christ more than anything else
- Hebrews 12:2; Luke 23:34
- Release and replace
Bottom Line: People forgiven by Jesus ought to forgive like Jesus.
