What do Sundays Look Like?

Worship? What's that?
The word is derived from the Old English root word "weorþscipe", meaning to venerate, worship, or show honor to, and has been understood as "worthiness or worth-ship"—to give, at its simplest, worth to something.
When we speak of the worship of God, what we mean is this:
The inner essence of Christian worship is to know God truly and then respond from the heart to that knowledge by valuing God, treasuring God, prizing God, enjoying God, being satisfied with God above all earthly things. And then that deep, restful, joyful satisfaction in God overflows in demonstrable acts of praise from the lips and demonstrable acts of love in serving others for the sake of Christ. In other words, we recognize who God is and that He is worthy of our worship, causing us to show honor to Him by singing, sharing the Gospel, and loving and serving others as He has called us to do!
Musical Worship at First Blairsville
Our musical worship style is broad, ranging from hymns to modern worship. We truly believe that worship is more than artistic expression, it’s an attitude of the heart. We want to provide a heartfelt, meaningful worship experience for wherever you are in your walk with Christ. The First Blairsville worship ministry is a thriving and diverse group of believers dedicated to serving God through the creative arts.
Our aim is to create worship environments that allow people to meet God and discover His personal message of grace through the use of music, drama, production technology, and other creative arts.
Worship Ministry Teams
The Worship Choir’s primary responsibility is to lead in worship in our 9am Blended Service in the Worship Center on Sunday mornings. The Celebration Choir is a fellowship of singers ages 55 and up with a flexible mid-day schedule who meet to celebrate their faith in Christ as He has revealed Himself through the course of their lives. This group frequently shares its music in our Tuesday Prayer Luncheon at 11:30am and other opportunities for ministry include frequent singing in assisted living centers. No audition is required.
Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 10:30am – 11:30am in the Choir Room
The Exaltation Orchestra provides instrumentalists in our church the opportunity to use their talents in worship by providing accompaniment for our 9am Blended service and leading in worship through special musical selections. This group is also used for periodic outreach to the community. This group is open to all students and adults. A minimum of two years experience on an instrument is suggested.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:30pm – 7:15pm in the Worship Center
The Worship Team’s primary responsibility is to lead in worship in our 10:45am Contemporary Service that meets in the Worship Center on Sunday mornings. The worship team is band driven and is typically made up of vocalists, keyboards, guitars, and percussion. The Resounding Praise Handbell Choir is a fellowship of Christian musicians who enjoy using handbells to bring glory to Christ. This group periodically shares music in worship services and represents First Blairsville in the community as it performs at assisted living centers and for various community events. Ability to read music is a prerequisite. If you cannot commit to ring on a regular basis we welcome ringers to serve on our substitute ringer list.
Rehearsals: TBD
For children age 3 – grade 5. Our KIDZ choir ministry provides a variety of musical experiences including performance opportunities to teach children about musical concepts, worship, the Bible, and Christian character development. There are three choirs (ages 3-5, grades K-2, and grades 3-5) that meet during the school year, each led by least two adults who are well prepared and love teaching children.
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:45 – 6:40pm (August – May) in the Kids’ Ministry Building
With all of these worship ministry groups, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes as well. Our media team is full of people who love to serve in worship ministry but we don’t often see them because they are not on stage. You’ll find them serving in various areas including live sound, lighting, cameras, broadcast, and even stage management for many of our special events. And because there is so much going on with media in our worship services, we often need more team members than you’d think. We’re always recruiting and training new members of our team so if you’re someone who’s interested in learning how you can be a part of the Media Team at First Blairsville contact our media director below!
