Beacon Mission Team

Shining His light to those in need

Who We Are

The Beacon Mission Team of First Baptist Church Blairsville participates in mission opportunities in the local community, throughout the United States, and around the world. The team of volunteers provides assistance needed in disaster situations, helps with needs among our own church members as well as individuals in our community, engages in witnessing opportunities by providing outreach and assistance to vistors of local festivals, and participates in projects in other states, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ by word and deed.

The Work We Do

A team of volunteers goes to a local crisis center on a monthly basis. We go to Camp Pinnacle in Clayton, Georgia, for a few days each year in February to assist with work around the camp. The Bland Crisis Center in Bland, Virginia, is another location where the Beacon Team has gone on several occasions and works in the food bank and clothing house as well as the local community. A group has traveled to Orphanage Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras for the past three years, assisting with various projects there. There are many members of our team who are also trained for participation in Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief and have been called out to many different disaster areas. We serve locally by assisting with building ramps, and other minor construction needs that arise. Another opportunity for service is feeding the hikers on the Appalachian Trail in the early spring. The team enjoys serving in the community at the annual Christmas celebration at Vogel State Park. In everything we do, we pray that others will see the love of Jesus shining bright!
