Worship through music and creative arts
The word is derived from the Old English root word "weorþscipe", meaning to venerate, worship, or show honor to, and has been understood as "worthiness or worth-ship"—to give, at its simplest, worth to something.
When we speak of the worship of God, what we mean is this:
The inner essence of Christian worship is to know God truly and then respond from the heart to that knowledge by valuing God, treasuring God, prizing God, enjoying God, being satisfied with God above all earthly things. And then that deep, restful, joyful satisfaction in God overflows in demonstrable acts of praise from the lips and demonstrable acts of love in serving others for the sake of Christ.
In other words, we recognize who God is and that He is worthy of our worship, causing us to show honor to Him by singing, sharing the Gospel, and loving and serving others as He has called us to do!
Our musical worship style is broad, ranging from hymns to modern worship. We truly believe that worship is more than artistic expression, it’s an attitude of the heart. We want to provide a heartfelt, meaningful worship experience for wherever you are in your walk with Christ. The FBC worship ministry is a thriving and diverse group of believers dedicated to serving God through the creative arts.
Our aim is to create worship environments that allow people to meet God and discover His personal message of grace through the use of music, drama, production technology, and other creative arts.
We are always seeking servant-hearted people to serve within the Worship Ministry to help us accomplish its mission. We encourage everyone to share their abilities with the church and community. We also encourage people to discover their abilities. Whether these abilities be singing, teaching, playing an instrument, acting, or working with production technology, there is a place for you here. If you have an interest in serving in one of these areas on Sunday mornings, we’d love to talk with you. For those not quite ready to jump into some of the more specific groups, we have a “come as you are choir” that rehearses on Wednesday evenings and help lead out in that service. We would love to have you!

With all of these worship ministry groups, there's a lot going on behind the scenes as well. Our media team is full of people who love to serve in worship ministry but we don't often see them because they are not on stage. You'll find them serving in various areas including live sound, lighting, cameras, broadcast, and even stage management for many of our special events. And because there is so much going on with media in our worship services, we often need more team members than you'd think. We're always recruiting and training new members of our team so if you're someone who's interested in learning how you can be a part of the Technical & Performing Arts Media Team at First Baptist contact one of our two media directors below!
